Social Media Content Guidelines

Anyone posting content directly to WSSC Water official social media platform sites shall follow these guidelines:  

  1. Relevance. WSSC Water shall only post content that is relevant to its primary mission of providing safe and reliable water, life’s most precious resource, and returning clean water to our environment, as well as other responsibilities such as, but not limited to inspection of natural gas installations.
  2. Language and Manners. All content that appears on WSSC Water social media properties shall be “family friendly.” 
  3. No Personal Attack Comments Permitted. Any disagreements between WSSC Water and outside parties will be discussed in a courteous and professional manner.
  4. Individual Privacy Protection.  No personal information, such as mailing address, email address, phone number, social security number, etc. may be shared. 
  5. Appropriate Topics. No hate speech, political or religious proselytizing, “adult” or sexual content, and self-serving commercial promotion. 

WSSC Water staff will also attempt to ensure that content posted by others is consistent with content guidelines, including comments, “likes,” shares, “tell-a-friend,” and retweets. At its sole discretion, WSSC Water may remove inappropriate comments and block users who repeatedly post inappropriate comments to WSSC social media properties.

WSSC Water staff is responsible for the accuracy of material posted to the site.  WSSC Water's Communications and Community Relations Office is responsible for monitoring content on all agency pages or sites to ensure a consistent message is being conveyed and ensure adherence to the Social Media Policy.  

WSSC Water's Communications and Community Relations Office will coordinate review of any legal issues with WSSC Water's General Counsel's Office.
